Northstar Bio ("Northstar Bio," "we," "us," or "our") respects your privacy. This Privacy Policy explains how we handle information across two very different things: the Cell SEQR platform (our software, which collects nothing) and this website at northstarbio.ai (which has a contact form). By using either, you agree to the practices described here.
This section concerns our Cell SEQR software platform, which is separate from this website. Cell SEQR is licensed software that runs entirely on your own machine or infrastructure. All data you load or generate with it (including FASTQ and other sequencing data, single-cell, bulk RNA-seq, immune profiling, and any associated sample, subject, or patient information) is created, stored, and processed locally under your exclusive control.
Northstar Bio does not create, receive, maintain, transmit, host, or otherwise access any of the data you process with Cell SEQR. The software contains no telemetry, no usage tracking, no analytics, and no background reporting to us. It is designed to run in an isolated environment, is air-gap capable, and works fully offline. Because your data never leaves your systems, we cannot see, retrieve, share, or recover it, and we never receive it.
Please distinguish this from the marketing website you are currently using. When you submit our contact form or email us, we do collect and process the limited information described in the sections below (such as your name, email address, and message). Those website interactions are entirely separate from your use of the Cell SEQR platform, which sends us nothing.
Cell SEQR works fully offline. An internet connection is required only for optional, user-initiated features such as public-database search, literature mining, and querying public genomic resources (for example, NCBI GEO/SRA, ENA/EBI, Ensembl, and PubMed). When you choose to use these features, only the query parameters you construct are sent, by you and at your direction, directly to those third-party public services, which are governed by their own terms and privacy practices.
Northstar Bio does not receive, route, store, or have access to the content of these queries or their results. You should not include patient identifiers, protected health information, or other confidential data in these queries, because they are transmitted to external public databases outside our control.
Information you provide. When you submit our contact form, we collect the information you choose to give us: your name, email address, organization (optional), and the contents of your message.
Information collected automatically. As with most websites, our hosting provider automatically records standard technical information when you visit, such as your IP address, browser type, device information, referring pages, and access times. This information is used to operate, secure, and maintain the Site.
Cookies. The Site does not use advertising or third-party tracking cookies. Any cookies present are strictly necessary for the Site to function.
We do not sell your personal information.
We share personal information collected through the website only with service providers that help us operate it, and only as needed:

We keep contact-form messages for as long as needed to respond to your inquiry and to maintain our legitimate business records, after which we delete or anonymize them.

The Site is operated from the United States. If you access it from outside the U.S., your information may be transferred to, stored, and processed in the U.S. and other countries where our service providers operate.
We use reasonable technical and organizational measures, including HTTPS encryption, to protect information collected through the website. However, no method of transmission or storage is completely secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.
The Site is not directed to children under 16, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from them.
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. Changes take effect when we post the revised version with a new "Last updated" date.
